Chameleon
I blinked and
disappeared into a
whitewashed wall.
without the colour of my
green eyes I was
invisible
to you.
and everyone else.
as a chameleon
I melded with my surroundings:
an uncomfortable couch, and
my skin turning leathery brown.
I crawled along the floor
changing my shades
from blue to red and back again
to something close to peach.
you didn't notice.
and I welcomed the foot that
calmly and unknowingly
mistook me for the floor.
