so you want to know what this is all about? confused? asking yourself 'what the fuck...'?
you're not alone.
well, my darlings, i do most hate to break it to you, but our lovely little zoo is nothing novel, nothing new. its creation is fueled by "oh that's so neat!"s and "if only i could be that cool"s, nothing brilliant or original.
the creation of the zoo is largely indebted to two sites that my zoo-friends and i simply adore: The Road to Fooksburg and The Disco Inside my Head. you should go visit them right now; they are much funnier and much larger than the zoo and frankly, we are nothing but a carbon copy that's faded and weak. hrmm. that's poetic.
the zoo was created on feburary 8th, 2003, when kate (that's me!), the site's zookeeper, was stuck at home with a nasty bout of bronchitis and honestly had nothing better to do. that's why the first thing ever said in the zoo is "kate: *dies*". that's how i felt at the time. i was 16, a junior in high school, and threw my friends in just for fun, some without permission, all of whom were around the same age. mama k, tania and i are the main writers; others such as tenoko have added their episodes here are there. it's communist and collaborative.
no, none of this ever really happened, save a few IM conversations and late-night happenings in my basement. we don't own anything but our own episodes. we don't really know any of the characters we use except those who are our friends. did make sense? it did to me... most of this just comes from the inner recesses of our minds.
